UDMAWEEN // FIGURES // MARRAKECH BIENNALE 6 //2016
Udmawen is a set of three new works specially produced for the Marrakech Biennale, in the context of “Memory Games: Ahmed Bouanani Now”. It is a response to a corpus of traditional jewelry and of popular stories that Ahmed Bouanani collected in the 1960s. Situating themselves between jewelry, masks, and clothing, these sculptural extensions of the body are spatial interpretations of traditional folk tales made in collaboration with jewelers, weavers, and ceramicists from the Marrakech region.
Craftsmen from Marrakech Medina : Mohamed Abiad and his 3 sons.
Researches about old technic of Amazigh jewelry // Silver mold in cuttlefish bones // Re-write of traditional Amazigh Bride Jewelry.
